The following photos are taken at Mutiangyu, one better
preserved fortress of the Great Wall near Beijing.
Imagine the Great Wall as a dragon, how long is its tail? The
dragon seems to wake up in the sun, flex its muscles and stretch its
tail to the end of earth every morning. We wondered whether anyone
has tempted to hike from the head to the tail in one journey?
As the fog is being lifted, you see more of the dragon's body.
Mutianyu is a name of one fortress. The Great Wall has many
fortresses that are connected by walls and small fortresses.
Passage ways in one of the the small fortress.
Mutianyu area is one of the gentler climb where the Great Wall
is not as steep and stones are more or less repaired for easy hike.
You often see groups of people debating whether they should go
on for another fortress or not. The fortresses are varied in sizes
but not much different in designs perhaps for the major fortresses.
Conquering the fortresses is the challenge - How many fortresses
have you visited? If our trip were not fixed by BLCU, we would
probably clip a dozen fortresses under our belts (or snickers).
Too bad we had to catch the return bus or we would have to camp
on the Great Wall for the night.
